And the winner of the FairVote MN Oscar Poll is...
The Hurt Locker!
A total of 213 film fans cast a ballot for their favorite movies in FairVote Minnesota's online ranked Oscar Poll, ranking the nominees in order of their preference, as the Academy members have done.
In Round One, Avatar led The Hurt Locker by a small margin, with 24.9 percent and 23.9 percent of the vote, respectively. Since neither of the top two films captured a majority of votes (out of field of 10), the contest went to an 'instant' runoff.
Here are the results from Round One:
| Avatar | 24.9% |
| The Blind Side | 6.1% |
| District 9 | 8.5% |
| An Education | 2.8% |
| The Hurt Locker | 23.9% |
| Inglourious Basterds | 11.3% |
| Precious | 6.1% |
| A Serious Man | 5.2% |
| Up | 6.6% |
| Up in the Air | 4.7% |

All of the candidates but the top two where eliminated round by round and their votes reassigned to next preferences on those voters' ballots until one candidate captured a majority of votes. In Round Nine, The Hurt Locker won with 52.3 percent of the vote!
How will the outcome compare to the real winner of the 82nd Academy Awards? Tune into the Oscar ceremony tonight, March 7th.
