MINNEAPOLIS—May 2, 2018—FairVote Minnesota, a non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on expanding use of Ranked Choice Voting across Minnesota, today announced significant expansion plans. The electoral reform group has played major roles in the successful use of RCV in the November 2017 municipal elections in Minneapolis and St. Paul and – in partnership with the League of Women Voters Saint Louis Park – the recent adoption of RCV in Saint Louis Park.
Building on this momentum, FairVote Minnesota Executive Director Jeanne Massey and FairVote Minnesota board members have decided now is the time to expand the organization’s leadership team. Three new senior positions – deputy director, director of communications and director of development – have been created. FairVote Minnesota is accepting applications now and also has several open summer democracy internships.
“Now more than ever, voters across the state are hungry for better democracy and representation and RCV offers a powerful solution to the problems of political dysfunction, polarization, negative campaigning and voter alienation. By expanding the depth and breadth of our leadership team, FairVote Minnesota will be able to maximize the powerful momentum building now for RCV,” said Massey. “We’re confident that the addition of three experienced and dynamic leaders, in addition to our strong existing staff, will give us the necessary people power to achieve our goals and ensure that every city in Minnesota has the opportunity to adopt RCV.”
FairVote Minnesota’s ambitious goals include expanding RCV in multiple cities throughout the state, passing an RCV local options bill in the legislature, growing public awareness and support, seeking support from candidates running for office, and expanding the presence of RCV in the media.
