RCV Has a Blue-Ribbon Year at State Fair, Summer Beer Dabbler
Weve had an enormously busy and successful September so far! FairVote Minnesotas month began by closing out another wonderful Minnesota State Fair, where our roaming team of high-energy volunteers garnered hundreds of signatures in support of our local options approach!
Then on Sept. 6, we had the privilege of introducing thousands of beer-quaffing Minnesotans to the joy of Ranked Choice Voting: Big thanks to our friends at the Growler magazine for inviting us to run the RCV craft beer "election" at the 2014 Summer Beer Dabbler! Our top-notch volunteer corps (40 members strong!) did a terrific job of showing attendees just how simple and satisfying RCV is to use. The consensus winner of the Lord Dabbler Cup, Dangerous Man Brewing of Northeast Minneapolis, is a tasty testament to the effectiveness of Ranked Choice Voting.
Weve been busy on other fronts, too; on Sept. 10 we had the privilege of presenting to the Brooklyn Park Charter Commission about the myriad benefits of RCV for municipal elections. We enjoyed members great questions and general enthusiasm, particularly regarding RCVs power to make local elections more inclusive and more representative of the whole community!

Thanks to Roger Heegaard, John Hottinger, Carol Rudie, Wy Spano for Dedicated Board Service
Were deeply grateful for the longtime leadership and tireless work of four outgoing board members, Roger Heegaard, John Hottinger, Carol Rudie and Wy Spano. Each has been integral over the years in making FairVote Minnesota one of the most effective public interest groups in the state.
Organizing fundraisers and educational events, writing illuminating editorials, paving the way for the triumphant 2013 RCV election in Minneapolis, growing support for RCV in Greater Minnesotatheyve done it all. And through small but important gestures like hand-writing notes to FairVote Minnesota supporters, they have also helped show, time and again, that this is truly a grassroots organization made up of good and thoughtful people.
Thank you, Roger, John, Wy and Carol, for helping democracy make huge strides in Minnesota over the past decade. Well miss you on the board but look forward to working with you in new capacities to advance voting reform across the stateand beyond.
