Watch for Instant Runoff Elections (IRE) to challenge the Iraq war for attention at the upcoming precinct caucuses. We would love to explain IREs to you, but we simply don’t get why people want to make voting harder or why party activists in either major party would want to concede to the so-called emerging third-party alternatives.
[Editor's note: After an election or two under "IRE (sic)," Neerland & Oyaas will come to realize that IRV is a nonpartisan reform that benefits, not only all parties, but more importantly, all voters. At the same time, it's nice to see a critical source recognize the momentum of the movement for better democracy through advanced voting methods.]
