June 6-8: IRV at DFL State Convention
If you're planning to be at the Democratic Farmer Labor (DFL) State Convention, we'd love to see you there! Visit the FairVote Minnesota information booth to learn about Instant Runoff Voting and why supporters like presidential candidate Barack Obama, Democration National Committee Chair Howard Dean, State DFL Chair Brain Melendez and Vice Chair Donna Cassutt believe it is a better way to vote.
"Instant runoff voting would be beneficial for our electoral process,
because it would encourage candidates to hold a firm set of principles
without worrying that their beliefs could make them unviable. It would
allow people to vote for candidates they really want to elect, thereby
increasing both enthusiasm and turnout."
~Howard Dean, 2005
A resolution urging DFL support for Instant Runoff Voting for local and state elections is on the platform ballot.
If you'd like to volunteer at the information booth and help educate delegates about the IRV resolution, please contact info@fairvotemn.org.
The convention runs from June 6 - 8 in Rochester. Click here for details.
