Internship and Fellowship Opportunities

 

We are excited to announce the launch new internship and volunteer programs in 2020 to help promote and implement Ranked Choice Voting across Minnesota! This opportunity will teach you skills that help prepare you for political careers, such as volunteer recruitment, leadership development, and constituent engagement. Leaders from similar programs have gone on to become campaign managers, communication staff, and legislative aides. For those considering a career in politics, an internship with FairVote Minnesota is a great way to put you ahead of the curve. We are looking for self-motivated individuals to help in the following positions:

Lobbying and Advocacy Internship

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare for State Legislative hearings, lead special projects, recruit/lead volunteers

  • SKILLS: Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills

  • PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Campaign and/or State Legislative experience

  • HOURS: 15-20

Grassroots Organizing Fellowship

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruit/lead volunteer canvassing teams to engage voters, assist with event logistics

  • SKILLS: Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills

  • PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Campaign and/or State Legislative experience

  • HOURS: 10-15

Research Fellowship

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Track state and local RCV legislation, study RCV history and strategies in other states

  • SKILLS: Attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills

  • PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Experience in state legislature preferred

  • HOURS: 10-15

Volunteer Advocate

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Engage voters on RCV, aid with event logistics, learn grassroots organizing strategies

  • SKILLS: All skill levels accepted

  • PRIOR EXPERIENCE: None required

  • HOURS: 5-10
