Come join us this weekend for two colorful annual rites of spring – Cinco de Mayo in West St. Paul on Saturday and May Day in Minneapolis on Sunday. What better way to soak up the sunshine, while communing with fellow Minnesotans and celebrating our diverse democracy?

The FairVote Minnesota team will be out at both all-day festivals. Come for the parades, stop by for an hour or two, or stay all day and help us spread the word about the power of Ranked Choice Voting. Here’s the scoop:

Cinco De Mayo: Saturday, May 6 in West St. Paul

We’ll be out with our famous RCV orange stickers, chatting with folks about the benefits of ranking their votes.

Festival grounds open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m., with live entertainment from noon – 6 p.m. The parade starts at 10:00  a.m. at the corner of Cesar Chavez and S. Robert Street in St. Paul and end at the corner of Cesar Chavez Street and S. Ada St.

FairVote Minnesota volunteers will gather at the corner of State St. and Cesar Chavez at 12:30 p.m. with clipboards, voter registration forms, pledge to rank cards, and literature (including Spanish!) and will stay around to chat with folks until 4:00 p.m.

May Day: Sunday, May 7 at Powderhorn Park, Minneapolis

Join FairVote Minnesota in the May Day parade! We’ll be lining up Cedar Field Park (2500 Cedar Avenue) at 11:30 a.m. (you can’t miss our FairVote Minnesota banner). The parade officially begins at noon and travels down Bloomington Ave into Powderhorn Park.

Then stop by our booth (#120) at the May Day Festival to say hello and get caught up on Ranked Choice Voting in the Minneapolis and St. Paul elections this year or to learn how you can jumpstart RCV in your community!

If you’d like to volunteer and talk to other festival goers about RCV, we’d love to have your help at our booth.

May Day in Minneapolis is cool, creative and family-friendly (what kid, small or large, can resist the magnificent creations presented by the Heart of the Beast Puppet Theater?)

Why join us?

FairVote Minnesota appreciates how Cinco de Mayo and May Day both showcase our area’s rich diversity, which is the same reason many of us like Ranked Choice Voting. Diversity makes us stronger, gives us more choices and, let’s face it, makes life a lot more interesting! So plan to revel in the sunshine and fun with your FairVote Minnesota friends. For more information or to let us know you can join us, contact FairVote Minnesota Field Organizer Andrew Beeman at or (218) 341-1536.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend!
